My Client. A North London Housing Association is seeking a Litigation Officer for a 3 month contract.

We are looking for a highly motivated Courts and Litigation Officer to ensure prompt, effective and appropriate action is taken to recover debts from tenants who have been subject to Court order.

To develop and lead on good practice in order to maintain high levels of performance in minimising arrears.

Applicants should have a proven track record in collecting rents and other related charges, and be able to demonstrate how they can assist in achieving outstanding collection performance despite the increasingly tough economic conditions.

You will need to be well organised and a skilled communicator with good knowledge in respect of Welfare Reform rules, including Universal Credit.

The key aspects of the role are as follows:

To maximise income collection, dealing with all legal action and court cases pertaining to rent collection and arrears prevention.

To be responsible for the timely review of Court orders (issued by the Ministry of Justice)and the Council's debt recovery policy.

To instruct the Legal Service and attend Court hearings in respect of all matters concerning possession claims, stay applications, variations and other court matters and be fully prepared and wholly conversant with all the aspects of each case.

To undertake the routine monitoring of accounts with court orders to ensure the clearance of arrears prior to evictions. To also ensure that sensitive, professional and excellent services are provided to the Housing Associations customers.
