Physics Teacher – Newly Qualified Science Teacher – Supportive Birmingham School – Starts September

If you’re currently training to be a Physics Teacher and are looking for a challenging but supportive school to complete your all-important NQT year then please read on.

Finding a school that is going to give you the encouragement, support and development to ensure a safe path to QTS isn’t as easy as some NQTs think. Not all schools support trainee teachers in the same way.

As a Physics NQT your dedication and investment in to your year as a trainee teacher should be repaid by joining a school with a similar dedication to you and your teaching career.

The school
My client school is a secondary in Birmingham (south east) that is keen to recruit at least two Newly Qualified Science Teachers. The school is a relatively small secondary with less than 1000 pupils, including a relatively new but expanding six form. As with any secondary schools it is not without its challenges but the positive way the school approaches these challenges is what sets it apart. Ideally the school would like a physicist and a chemist but are more than happy to consider a biology specialist.

The NQT position

The recruited trainees will join a science department made up of a Head of Science, experienced teachers as well as a small number of relatively new teachers that joined their NQT programme last September. This gives a wide breadth of knowledge and experience across the department ensuring any problems and situations you may face as an NQT can be talked about and remedied. Regular meetings in the department allow input and ideas from all to be discussed and implemented if deemed a positive step. Your ideas as an NQT will be held in high regard.

You will be responsible for teaching Physics across the three key stages as well as teaching general science to KS3. The school are keen to give all trainees the opportunity to teach at A and AS Level.

What the school will do for you
Each NQT will be assigned a mentor in school. The mentor will be an experienced teacher in the department and someone with a track record of supporting trainees. Each NQT will be placed on the school’s Foundation Programme which tracks progress throughout the year as well as providing CPD/Training sessions. Regular one-to-ones with the HoD will allow you a voice and a chance to discuss any problems or challenges you face in the school.
If this sounds like the type of school you’d enjoy working at and think it would be the perfect place to start your full-time teaching career as a Physics Teacher then please email a copy of your CV to Patrick at Edustaff or call (Apply online only), (url removed)
