A well respected defence organisation is currently experiencing an ongoing period of growth and success. Due to an ever increasing workload, they are currently looking to recruit an IT Infrastructure Technical Architect to join their dedicated team of IT Professionals. The role is based in Lincoln and is for an initial 6 month duration. There is an attractive hourly rate on offer for the successful candidate. Please find the description below:

Job Description

IT Infrastructure Technical Architect

A talented and detail-oriented technical architect with significant experience in the design, specification, delivery and validation of on-premise IT infrastructure solutions is required to join an integrated project team within the Integrated Missions Systems (IMS) line of business, delivering a significant program of work for an export customer.

The technical architect will be required to use their extensive knowledge of industry best-practice and demonstrate their awareness of current and emerging networking, storage and virtualisation technologies and trends in order to design, procure and configure a robust, scalable IT architecture that will host a bespoke suite of critical software applications in support of an in-service air platform.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the success of the programme and will be heavily relied upon to competently deliver a critical work packet.

Skills, qualifications & knowledge

Proven experience with several of the following technologies:

- Cisco networking
- Traditional and software-defined storage platforms
- Traditional and converged / hyper converged server platforms-
- Mainstream virtualisation technologies (VMWare vSphere)
- Core Microsoft Technologies (Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange)
- Application delivery technologies (Citrix XenApp, VMware ThinApp, Microsoft AppV)
- Backup technologies (Veeam, Veritas)
- Deployment, configuration and monitoring systems (System Centre, VeeamONE)

You will also meet several of the following criteria:

- Significant, relevant experience and professional qualifications (MCSE, MCSA, CEH etc).
- Demonstrable experience of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements management, system design process (including system and sub-system specification) and product validation and verification.
- Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.
- Ability to demonstrate and apply system-level thinking.
- A proven track record in schedule adherence and achieving high standards.
