We are currently seeking a permanent compliance assistant to join an industry leading Lloyd’s Managing Agent based in London. The purpose of this role is to assist the Compliance Officer in ensuring a robust corporate governance and management culture (Compliance, Risk, Audit and Company Secretarial).

The ideal candidate will effectively ensure that a schedule of all regulatory returns is maintained and all task owners kept fully informed of pending submission deadlines as well as assisting the Compliance Officer in ensuring appropriate internal compliance systems and controls are in place for the scale and complexity of the business.
The role will involve the following key tasks being undertaken proficiently:
• Assisting the Compliance Officer in monitoring compliance with PRA/FCA, Lloyd’s and other applicable regulations
• Assisting the Compliance Officer in preparing an Annual Compliance Review updating the Annual Compliance Plan as objectives are met during the year
• Assisting the Compliance Officer in ensuring compliance functions, policies, procedures are in place to meet Lloyd’s requirements
• Assisting the Compliance Officer and Company Secretary in the servicing of the agency board and committees (preparing agendas, minute taking and ensuring all action points are completed and compliance actions implemented)
• Circulating Market Bulletins from Lloyd’s of PRA/FCA notifications to the Executive Team and designated team members.
• Assisting the Compliance Officer in reviewing any material incidents/potential breaches

The candidate will possess the following:
• Educated to degree standard or equivalent with a law degree being beneficial
• Must have knowledge of the London insurance market
• Experience with a Lloyd’s Market insurance firm / basic knowledge of the insurance industry is essential
• Ideally some knowledge of the PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s regulatory framework
• A proactive approach to work and being able to work on own initiative in identifying required actions is essential
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills - ability to keep meticulous records
• Ability to communicate confidently, efficiently and clearly in both written and verbal forms
• Confident in taking responsibility and working to tight deadlines
• Progressive thinker - able to consider activities and suggest alternative ways of accomplishing tasks to achieve similar or better results
• IT literate (Experience with Microsoft Access is desirable but not essential
