As an Amazon software engineeryou will design, develop, test, and run operations for core platformservices. You will take a defined design and turn it into code anddeliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and currentsoftware engineering best practices. You'll write secure, stable,testable, maintainable code with minimal defects. You'll participate inteam design, scoping and prioritization discussions. You'll workeffectively with customers and/or internal partners to understandbusiness impacts and identify any opportunities/problems arising fromtechnical decisions. A successful candidate will have an establishedbackground in developing services for consumer-facing products, a strongtechnical ability, excellent organizational skills, great communicationskills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment,and, of course, a passion for TV and film.We care about your career growth, too. Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design. Highly proficient in at least one of Java, C++, C#, Objective-C. Experience with one or more of JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, Python. Evidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency,concurrency, performance optimization. Evidence of working with object-oriented development and design patterns. OS fundamentals and systems architecture. Cloud computing, large-scale and high-availability distributed architecture. Experience working in an Agile environment. Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills. Strong written and verbal English communications skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Linux/UNIX including command-line tools and scripting. Web development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript). Databases including SQL, noSQL, schema design and optimization. Big data, machine learning and other statistical analysis.
