About Us

OnSide is an ambitious, rapidly growing charity, with hugely exciting and ambitious plans to continue and accelerate this growth. Youth Zones are high quality, inspirational and well-run places, offering young people ‘somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to’, on an incredible scale. OnSide has already raised over £70 million of funding and the success of the Youth Zones has attracted national recognition; we are now one of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charities in London, alongside Samaritans and Place2Be. We have an exceptional opportunity for a Major Donor Development Manager to initially focus on the Warrington Youth Zone project and then move on to other projects across the North of England.

The Role

Across England the Youth Zone projects are developing at pace and OnSide is now seeking to strengthen the team to enable it to meet these rapid growth plans, through the recruitment of an additional Major Donor Development Manager. This role will generate at least £3 million of income for each Youth Zone project through replicating and developing the successful OnSide funding model involving the identifying of individual and corporate supporters, developing and maintaining existing relationships with Youth Zone supporters, engaging ‘Founder Patrons’ and creating a stewardship programme.

The Person

You will have a proven track record of personally securing major donors including experience of face-to-face asking for high level funds, together with experience of developing substantial new income streams from a range of sources. With a sound understanding of what motivates people to give, you will have strong and persuasive communication skills, an ability to listen and an empathetic and proactive approach. You will be able to enthuse people in an approachable and professional manner, have the ability to make presentations to senior or large audiences, and the ability to develop strong working relationships.

The job role is attached; to apply please submit a CV and cover letter.

Closing date: April 2018.

N.B. Please submit applications as soon as possible as suitable applicants will be contacted before the closing date to be invited for interview.

The strength of the OnSide Network of Youth Zones is the diversity of its people; we place huge value on different people doing things in different ways and we welcome applications from what might be considered non-traditional backgrounds. The one thing we all have in common is our desire to raise the aspirations of young people across the country. OnSide is also committed to the safeguarding of young people.
