Principal Fluid Systems Engineer

We are recruiting for a Principal Fluid Systems Engineer to join our mods and ups team based in Lincoln supporting our Power Generation Service business within Siemens. We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work in a friendly team environment. You will be responsible for the design and development of fluid and instrumentation systems to meet contract requirements for new products, projects, development activities and retrofit. You will also ensure that high engineering standards are maintained within the fluid systems department by applying good engineering practices and providing guidance to members of the department.

What are my responsibilities?

- Specification of Core and Package equipment including pumps, valves, piping, filters, control gear, hydraulic, pneumatic and electric actuators.
- The design of complete system networks i.e. lub, gas and liquid fuel, steam, water, air, starting, instrumentation and engine auxiliaries.
- Provide engineering support to the drawing office designers and our customers in the design of "On and off package" fluid and instrumentation systems equipment.
- Provide engineering support to other Power departments including controls, manufacture, installation, service and project engineering.
- Deal with and resolve relatively complex and advanced level engineering problems in a focused technical area.
- Write and contribute to reports, design studies. Discuss changes with customer.
- May take lead technical role.
- Supervise students, technicians and engineers
- Co-ordinate work with others
- Lead engineering on more straight forward jobs giving work direction to project teams and others.
- Provide manpower estimates for contract change.
- Ensure specific task targets are achieved
- Plan project time scales for more straightforward projects
- Leadership of small project teams.
- Deliver advanced level engineering work.
- Generate operating instructions and philosophies.
- Liaison and reviewing of equipment with vendors for engineeringsuitability and price.
- With customers and suppliers at a technical level to clarify and agree data/details.
- With other technical groups within the company as appropriate and report progress
- Ensure tasks completed to budget
- Set budget and time scales for work packages of others

What do I need to qualify for this job?

- Ideally educated to degree level
- Experience within a similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience of working with budgets
- Attention to detail
- Team player
