This DevOps role is live due to continued growth in the business. You will be involved in several large greenfield projects, primarily around scaling and globalisation; as they continue to grow in China they will need your skills and knowledge to take advantage of this upsurge.
To help with this and other deployment/pipeline projects, they are looking to bring on a passionate DevOps Engineer to join the small team, take ownership of their pipeline and AWS cloud infrastructure, and support their internal teams on their mission to scale.
To Succeed as DevOps Engineer you:
Primarily, we are looking for DevOps Engineer who has, as part of a previous role, taken on significant responsibility for infrastructure within the business. You will have held a position that demanded input into technical decision and guidance through medium to large projects.
This would have involved the support of a highly available application hosted using Linux with an emphasis on exceptional up-time. This experience will have given you a good underlying knowledge of networking and security throughout a small to medium-size business.
You will have acquired a deep level of Linux knowledge through working on these applications. This will include, but is not limited to: debugging networks, monitoring, web serving and a good understanding of TCP/IP, for instance, and VCP etc.
It is also necessary to have a good fundamental understanding of Python and/or Ruby and will have used either for accessing and using data via an API.
You will also have gained significant experience in the cloud hosting space - with a good understanding of configuration management using tools like Puppet or Chef. You will have worked on building and improving a deployment pipeline using one of either Capistrano, Jenkins or Bamboo for CI/CD.
Finally, but importantly, you are going to be working closely with other technical teams in the business. You will be able to communicate technical information clearly to team members and stakeholders of varying technical ability. We are also looking for someone who appreciates the importance of the business their actions have - you will act in a calm, clear and accurate way.
