Commercial Property Department
The Legal Assistant will be required to provide administrative and organisational assistance to a lawyer in the commercial property team. The Legal Assistant will assist with a broad range of commercial property transactions including, for example, acquisitions and disposals, commercial landlord and tenant work, development and option agreements, business sales and purchases and financing.
After a short period of being in the role the Legal Assistant be expected to obtain a sound knowledge of the processes involved in dealing with a wide variety of commercial property matters. There will be a number of opportunities for progression (including pursuing legal qualifications if desired and not already completed) with a view to eventually handling your own small case load.
The Legal Assistant will also be required to assist the commercial property team with their ambitious plans for growth and development.
The Legal Assistant will be required but not be limited to:
- Dealing with the on-boarding of new clients;
- Carrying out pre-contract and pre-completion searches;
- Obtaining official copy documents from the Land Registry;
- Obtaining copy planning documents;
- Preparing simple draft documents;
- Preparing simple reports on title;
- Drafting replies to standard commercial property enquiries;
- Preparing general correspondence;
- Carrying out legal research;
- Completing stamp duty land tax forms; and
- Preparing and submitting applications to the Land Registry.
Full training will be provided and, if desired, there will be opportunities for personal development.
The Legal Assistant must be creative and open-minded as the client is going through an exciting period of growth and development. You will be required to assist the commercial property team with their innovative plans for product development and the introduction of pioneering new technologies.
Experience of assisting with commercial property matters is desirable but not required as full training will be provided.
