Due to an expanding client base, we at KMA Chartered Management Accountants, a busy accountancy practice in Dunstable, are currently looking to appoint a full time Accounts Assistant.

As the Accounts Assistant, you will be expected to provide accounts support to enable us to deliver an efficient and professional service to our clients.

Your duties will include:

  • Preparation and timely submission of quarterly VAT returns from source information. Communication with clients to ensure all issues are resolved and that clients understand their liability and payment dates;

  • On-site support for a key client, two to three days per week in Cheddington. Duties include raising sales invoices in Sage and the allocation of sales receipts. Also entering purchase invoices and receipts to Sage and again allocating payments. In addition to this, monthly bank reconciliations and quarterly VAT returns;

  • Ad hoc administrative duties such as answering client calls, attendance of client meetings, raising invoices and taking client payments;

Relevant experience and skills:

  • Have experience in working in an accountancy practice is preferred

  • Have fundamental technical knowledge of VAT return preparation for small owner managed businesses

  • Excel

  • Sage 50

  • Payroll knowledge would be an advantage but not essential (to assist in holiday cover)

For this role, the applicant should be

  • Self motivated;

  • Able to work without direct detailed supervision;

  • Able to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Own transport
