Job Description Summary:

The Administrator will be responsible for providing an effective cashiering management function for the National Treasury department of the business

Job Description:

Main responsibilities


  • Maintaining client accounting records for insolvent estates
  • Processing job set up and closure forms
  • Using the Insolvency Practitioner Software (IPS)
  • Completion of diary lines
  • Banking of incoming cheques
  • Daily postings
  • Cheque processing/BACS/CHAPS payments
  • Inter account transfers
  • Journals
  • Opening, administering and closing estate bank accounts
  • Preparation of submission of statutory returns to Companies House
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Communicating with all the major high street banks
  • Communication with The Insolvency Services
  • Communicating with employees on a daily basis
  • Dealing with day to day queries
  • Maintaining client accounting records for Courtwork clients
  • Importing bank statements to Altia software and produce excel documents, with accurate data for clients

Other responsibilities

  • To keep up to date technically in order to carry out role e.g attend internal training events including National Training courses
  • Ensure that job review forms are completed on performance on a regular basis and any identified areas of development are addressed after discussions with line manager
  • Accurate records of time spent is properly and expediently recorded on PMS
  • When appropriate, be involved in training/inducting new members of staff


  • Identify and action opportunities for personal and professional development
  • Responsibility for ensuring own appraisal and job reviews are completed on time and that a training plan is in place
  • Acts as a role model for living the firm's values
  • Involvement in corporate responsibility projects

Clients and client service

  • Communicate effectively with client's staff
  • Be flexible in managing difficult situations in a professional manner
  • Satisfy the different requirements of stakeholders
  • Flexibility to be able to travel to clients premises and to work/study away from home

Business Development

  • Although not a core part of the role, it maybe required from time to time to take an active part in recovery marketing events.
  • However the individual will:
  • Demonstrate an awareness of professional standards expected
  • Be aware of the importance of good client relations
  • Represent Grant Thornton in a favourable light to clients
