Description of Role:

A temporary vacancy has arisen for an 8A post working with older adults. This post is funded for 23 months. The post-holder will join a team of clinical psychologists and a CBT therapist working in the OA service. The post involves providing a clinical service to the older adult population.

Applications are being sought from experienced and newly qualified Clinical Psychologists.
This will require the ability to travel around the region, so a current driving licence is essential. There may also be opportunities for supervising more junior staff and trainees; and for working on an innovative ‘tackling loneliness’ project, which we are in the process of establishing.

The Department of Psychological Therapies and Research comprises around sixty staff in a number of specialisms. There are close links with the University of Edinburgh clinical psychology doctoral course and the University of Stirling Clinical Applied Psychologist course.

Dumfries and Galloway is a largely rural region extending approximately 100 miles from West to East, and 40 miles from North to South. Dumfries is a lively market town, and the region benefits from hundreds of miles of coastline and good hill-walking opportunities. It has a population of around 150,000. There are good transport links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Informal enquiries are welcome. Please contact Dr Gillian Bowie, Clinical Lead of Older Adult Service or Dr John Higgon, Older Adult / Neuropsychology / Clinical Health Service Manager, on.

Closing Date: Extended to Thursday 26 April 2018 (midnight)
