This is an exciting position for an experienced Functional Skills Trainer to join our team based in Warwick to deliver functional skills at level 1 and 2 via Virtual Classroom technology.

You will be expected to prepare your lessons and materials using a wide range of mediums that will fully engage our learners and prepare them for their examinations.

Previous experience of delivering Maths and English functional skills is an essential criteria for this position, ICT would be an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities/Duties to Include:

To plan, prepare and deliver classes via virtual classrooms.

Prepare appropriate plans and learning materials for each session including assignments and revision materials.

To give advice and support to learners as part of teaching duties, including providing learners with advice on progression.

Monitoring and marking learners’ work and progress. Maintaining such records as appropriate.

Liaise with field team on progress and advising when the learners are ready to take their final examinations.

Ensure that all equipment and facilities are used appropriately and safely.

Monitor daily session attendance and follow up post session.

Person Specifications:

Qualifications in functional skills essential as is previous training experience delivering functional skills.

Teaching qualification* appropriate for working in the Post 16 Sector, and/or willingness to undergo further training

Experience of teaching/training or working with learners within the workplace, delivering virtual classrooms. If not experienced within a virtual classroom, you must be comfortable in front of a camera.

An awareness of different learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for teaching a diverse range of abilities.

Effective oral and written communication, numeracy and interpersonal qualifications & skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners alike.

Effective use of IT and digital learning in the materials development, delivery and assessment

A commitment and ability to comply with Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Prevent and to support these developments through course material.

* PTTLS would be considered an advantage for an applicant without a formal qualification, but all staff who are not formally qualified in teacher training will be required to undertake at least DTTLS within the first 2 years of employment.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week based in our Warwick offices with free parking; flexibility for home working when not delivering lessons.
