The Role
The candidate should be able to demonstrate up to date skills and competence in an Infrastructure / Network Engineer-type environment:
  • Remote infrastructure, across a range of devices
  • Problem solving of common and non-routine problems
  • Deploy, install and configure Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 clients
  • Install, configure and test computer hardware and software;
  • Troubleshoot, record, diagnose or escalate system faults in a helpdesk setting
  • Install and configure Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 R2 in multiple roles, including Virtualisation
  • Control Microsoft Domain Users, Groups and Computers using powerful Group Policies
  • Cabling and connectivity, the various types of antennas and wireless systems and IT test equipment
  • Maintenance processes and applies them in working practices
  • Basic elements and architecture of computer systems
  • Understands where to apply the relevant numerical skills e.g Binary
  • Relevant networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network
  • Understands the similarities, differences and benefits of the current Operating Systems available
  • Operate remotely and how to deploy and securely integrate mobile devices
  • Working knowledge of Cloud and Cloud Services
  • Disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works and their role within it
  • Similarities and differences between a range of coding and logic
  • Complies with business processes relevant to the sector and business IT skills relevant to the organisation

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality coaching and assessments one-to-one or to small groups of apprentices at their work locations, on a monthly basis, complemented by eLearning.
  • Deliver outstanding training sessions from NowSkills premises to groups of apprentices no larger than 15.
  • Conduct monthly progress reviews with apprentices and their employers in line with their apprenticeship programme.
  • Inspire, motivate and raise apprentices’ aspirations through their passion for the digital sector.
  • Deliver inductions to new apprentices inclusive of initial assessments, CEIAG and H&S risk assessments on employer sites.
  • Provide opportunities for apprentices to develop their maths, English and ICT skills and knowledge.
  • Embed Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and British Values into all course content.
  • Adhere to all NowSkills policies & procedures, ESFA, Ofsted and Awarding Body requirements.
  • Report to the Ops Director to achieve agreed volumes of new starts and timely apprentice achievements in line with the business strategy and plans.
  • To undertake additional projects and activities to meet the needs of the apprentices, employers and NowSkills.
  • Share best practice amongst the Ops Team and attend all internal meetings/training as required.
  • Maintaining continued professional development (CPD) and keeping up to date with all industry developments and practices.

The Person
  • A keen interest in education and a passion to train, assess and coach young people in their digital careers
  • Recognised teaching qualification would be desirable, or a commitment to work towards one
  • Qualifications and industry experience within the sector you aim to deliver (i.e. software development; IT infrastructure; digital marketing).
  • Full driving licence and own transport is essential as the role involves travel to multiple employer locations across the North West
  • A qualification of work-based learning assessment is desirable
  • Proven record of working to at least Ofsted Grade 2 standards
  • Experience of working with 16-18 year olds would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of Ofsted, ESFA and Awarding Organisation requirements
  • Must have excellent administrative skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, work methodically, accurately and effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Resilience and adaptability when dealing with challenge or change, or support apprentice to overcome barriers to career and personal development
  • Excellent maths, English and ICT skills

There will be a requirement to undergo an enhanced DBS check to undertake this role, and to provide at least two suitable references upon request.
