Black Biro Recruitment as assisting our client based just off the A14 at Hemingford Abbots (vehicle required to reach the offices), to recruit an AOI System and Final Inspection Operator for their growing electronics business. You will need to be familiar with AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems and ideally have good experience from an SMT assembly / inspection background.

Our client's manufacturing team are responsible for the assembly, test, packing and despatch of a wide range of PCB’s and finished products built to customer design and supplied to order to many diverse companies. They operate three fully automated surface mount assembly lines as well as recent investment in new selective soldering technology to ensure that they offer their customers the very latest and best solutions to their often complex manufacturing requirements.

The AOI System & Final Inspection Operator role provides inspection of PCB assemblies within the Manufacturing department. This need has arisen due to continued increase in demand from the existing customers and from winning new business in a very competitive market place.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

• Carry out full and final visual inspection of completed PCB assemblies.
• Provide first-of inspection to the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) assembly operators at start of shift and new job start-up.
• Provide line inspection of all SMT PCBs prior to rework of PTH (Plated Through Hole) assemblies being carried out.
• Provide component verification to SMT operators when component reels are changed.

The role of AOI System & Final Inspection Operator is an important one to our client and therefore successful applicants will be extremely conscientious in their attitude, which will be reflected in their appreciation of quality, cost and efficiency. A flexible attitude towards working hours and a competent, keen personality are also key to this role.

Key Job Accountabilities
• Routine in-process inspection and final inspection of PCB assemblies.
• Carrying out visual inspection of first-off and batch built PCB assemblies (surface mount and/or conventional technologies) in accordance with appropriate customer and company documentation, and published workmanship standards.
• To run first-of SMT assemblies through the AOI process and highlight any process or placement errors prior to the line continuing with daily production.
• To verify component matches with the SMT line operator when SMT reels are changed to avoid wrong components being placed.
• Checking feeder carts have been loaded with the correct component sequence prior to an SMT job running.
• To create the individual PCB error log used by the rework team to correct mistakes.
• To apply the requirements of the IPC-A-610 standard (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) objectively and consistently.
• You may also be required to work in the Assembly department at times manufacturing PCB assemblies.
