My prestige client based in Reading town centre are looking for an experienced Claims Technician to join thier busy team. If you have experience in this area then please read on!

Principal Purpose of Role:

* To review, resolve and proactively manage individual commercial liability claims, some being either Portal based or fast track, within current governance guidelines and to personal authority level.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Performance Focus
* To manage a caseload of allocated claims up to your financial authority from claim registration to settlement, in accordance with company procedures and guidelines.
* To ensure that appropriate technical guidance is provided on individual claims. Offer advice on claims technical matters within own and team authority.
* Undertake other duties over and above those listed in the job description, appropriate to the individual’s skills and experience.

* Customer Focus
* Ensure that our customers are treated in accordance with the principals of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF).
* Act in accordance with the Company’s values with both internal and external customers to facilitate continued and improved company reputation and success

* Governance Focus
* Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements and company policies.
* Remain vigilant to the potential opportunities for financial crime, fraud and money laundering and take actions appropriate to mitigate their likelihood and impact
* Alert to potential regulatory and business risks within the Department. Also ensure such risks are included in the Departmental Risk Management Programme, and that action is taken to mitigate them
* The personal data of customers, staff and other individuals must be handled lawfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, and other related legislation. Employees are also individually responsible for ensuring they comply with associated Covéa Insurance policies and procedures.

Person Specification


* A good standard of general education, preferably to A level standard.


* A working knowledge of Employers and Public Liability injury claims within the Fast Track of at least three years.
* Knowledge of disease claims handling would be helpful.
* Some knowledge of property liability claims is preferable.


* Good commercial product knowledge and claims management skills
* Good standard of general education
* Good written and verbal skills
* Fraud awareness
* Accuracy and attention to detail imperative
* Excellent Customer Service skills are imperative
* Good interpersonal skills are necessary, as is the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people
* Capability to work on ones own initiative and liaise effectively with all levels of management as required
* PC skills essential – MS Word & MS Excel
