Job title: Senior Electrical Test Technician with Team Leader Duties
Job location: Derby, Derbyshire
Hourly pay rate: £20 - £22 per hour plus overtime at £24 - £33 per hour
Shifts: Mornings and Afternoons 6-2, 2-10
Flexible to work 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00
Hours per week: 37 hours a week plus overtime
Duration: 12 Months+ (predicted)
Start date: ASAP

Client Summary:
Our client is a global leader in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing.

Position Summary:
The role is geared around Fault finding and diagnosing of train systems including TPWS (Train protection and Warning Systems), AWS (Automatic Warning Systems), PIS (Passenger Information Systems), Traction, braking, doors, radios, CCTVs, HVAC units DOO (Driver only operations systems) and MVB (communication network system). Ensure trains leave the site fully tested with no quality defects.

Essential Experience:
• In-depth Electrical knowledge
• Good understanding of manufacturing process
• Experience reading schematics / written working instructions
• Testing (megger meters / flash tests / continuity tests)
• Fault Finding / Diagnostics / Problem Solving
• Wiring
• Methodical and meticulous approach
• Confidence to sign off and put your name against your workmanship
• Electrical Qualification
• Ability to prioritise work to maximise output
• Be computer literate (data downloads are part of the position)
• Work within a small team and on your own on occasions
• Have a safe approach to work within an industrial environment
• Be able to react and to solve problems as you uncover them

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and lead a cross-functional team of electricians.
- Control of quality of work within the test facility
- Planning daily and weekly work activities and associated resources
- Ensuring all work completed meets the requirements of the customer and industry standards
- Implementing Lean Principles and identifying areas for Continuous Improvement
- Reporting to internal stakeholders on progress of projects against delivery targets

Required Skills and Experience:

- Relevant engineering qualifications
- Experience of rolling stock or heavy overhaul/maintenance activities in a related industry
- Demonstrable experience within a Team Leader or Management position within an engineering environment
- Knowledge of Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement

Desirable Experience:
• Rail Experience
• Avionics experience
• CCTV
• Inspection
• Preferable 5 years+ experience in a similar industry

Additional Information:
A must is a formal Electrical Engineering Qualification i.e. Apprenticeship, Degree, HND, HNC, 16th/17 edition, Level 3 Electrical Installation, 2391 City and Guilds Testing.
