Software Developer: C# Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK
£32-37k + bonus

An opportunity has been created for a proven C# software developer / senior software engineer to join a successful company that is involved with the design and development of sophisticated fibre optic based sensing technologies.

The role would involve the development of customer desktop applications using C# as well as the development of in house apps used to analyse and validate designs and algorithms used within the research and development of new products and systems. This will provide exposure to machine learning and neural networking technologies as well as GPU in time.

You will be working as a C# software developer as part of a collaborative, multi-skilled product development team based over multiple locations and sometimes multitasking between concurrent projects.

.NET / C# software developers with exposure to engineering or scientific environments aligned to products and systems involving sensors, machine learning, neural networks or signal processing technologies would be preferred.

Skills / Knowledge Required:
• A good degree or higher in a relevant subject (e.g. computer science, software engineering etc)
• Good experience of software development using C#
• Experience of multithreaded software technologies (ideally for desktop applications) would be great
• Passion for learning new technologies (perhaps evidenced through self-learning or extra-curricular projects, hobbies and interests, Git Hub, Open Source contributions)
• Proactive, organised, self-starter and able to work effectively in a small team environment

More (beneficial skills and knowledge)
• Experience of C# 5/6 or C++ (ideally C++ CLI) would be useful as would Git version control
• Experience developing desktop applications using WPF / Winforms or similar
• You will work with signal processing engineers that develop algorithms for the company products, hence any knowledge of Matlab, Python or GPU programming would be useful
• An interest in neural networks or machine learning would be good
• Understanding of hardware / electronics products would be useful also any experience of Unit Testing or knowledge of SQL Server 2012+ would be useful

The products are utilised in a variety of industry sectors as sensor systems that can help protect assets, detect failures, threats and many other uses over large geographical areas by utilising sensitive fibre optic technologies (acoustic sensing, temperature sensing or vibration monitoring.)

Although not essential, an appreciation or knowledge of signal processing technologies from applications such as data analytics, computer vision, video / image processing, audio / speech recognition, or sonar / radar etc, could be useful. The most important thing really is a good background in C# development.

The role is commutable from Basingstoke, Farnham, Farnborough, Reading, Winchester, Andover, Bracknell and Newbury
