I am currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver budgeted total Category gross and nett sales and margin £ and gross margin %
• Work with Head of Buying & Merchandising to deliver Category stock levels
• Creation and maintenance of strategic category plans to meet short & medium term business objectives gaining approval from line manager
• Work with line manager to create the annual sales, margin and stock budgets
• Source and purchase merchandise to meet customer needs in terms of choice, price and innovation
• Review historical data, trends and previous strategies to ascertain lessons learnt for future seasons
• Ensure products meet technical specifications
• Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competitors and changing customer requirements for all products/services within the category
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships
• Develop a sourcing strategy to deliver the overall business plan
• Introduce new suppliers with signed T’s & C’s
• Negotiate terms, rebates, flexipay contributions and all product pricing
• Ensure all shows are briefed fully and accurately to maximise sales and margin £.
• Ensure new product development plan is in place to deliver customer and business requirements
• CAM presentations of new products and suppliers
• Management of show ranges, direct marketing, web & AAT ranges
• Management and development of Buyers and Assistant Buyers

Key Responsibilities
• Undertake visits as and when required ie, Trade shows & supplier visits
• Work with QA to reduce returns levels
• Delivery of a show schedule which maximises sales and gross/nett margin £
• Customer service liaison to ensure customer satisfaction
• Work with QA to ensure product and show compliance with ASA and all other bodies
• Work with logistics to ensure quickest possible delivery times
• Influence across the business to deliver Category Business Plans
• Agree and set objectives with direct reports, manage individual team performance and provide coaching, advice and guidance so that team members can perform at a high level

Foreign Travel

As part of the key responsibilities of this role it may be necessary, from time to time, to travel abroad to attend Trade Fairs, visit suppliers or work with business partners of ISD. Prior notice of any foreign travel on behalf of ISD would be given.

• Graduate Calibre.

• Experience with a ‘blue chip’ retailer or catalogue/home shopping environment including a proven track record of being in a buying position.

• In depth knowledge of contract negotiations and experience of trading complexities associated with branded merchandise.

• Strong business acumen and highly results focused
