BI and Data Manager – Coventry – Permanent

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (salary dependant on experience) + £4000 car allowance and benefits package

Occasional international travel (North America) required and fully expensed.

The Role

We are looking for someone to head up a Data Management function leading a team consisting of architects, analysts and developers to help an internationally growing software company in the Coventry/Warwickshire area. This person will be responsible for driving Data Monetisation/Commercialisation, running a proof of concept and implementation for event streaming solutions (Kafka etc.) and re-architecting data solutions to public cloud.

Key Responsibilities

* Leading, motivating and developing the Data Management team to ensure they are capable of undertaking their roles and responsibilities effectively.

* Working with the UK Software Development management team to identify project Data requirements and then providing appropriate resource planning.

* Working with the US Data Management team and perform a governance role for US based projects.

* Working closely with core Product teams to develop designs that solve business and operational requirements / constraints (e.g. upgrades)

* Working with customers in order to analyse business requirements, with implementation of those requirements within the existing data model, or formulation of design enhancements to the data model to fulfil those requirements.

* Working with the existing data and software architecture team in order to develop/ re-engineer applications for the public cloud.

* Preparing and interpreting Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), database designs and system interface definitions. Working with Software Architects on overall system design and architecture.

* Working with customers in order to identify non-functional requirements and produce designs that fulfil non-functional requirements such as volume and performance.

* Providing assistance in formulating project plans for complex and large-scale projects.

* Estimating and agreeing timescales, delivering multiple projects on schedule.

* Providing consultancy to customers and system integrators for the provision of data via public interfaces from/to other customer systems.

* Analysing database implementation methods to make sure they are in line with company policies and any external regulations that may apply.

* Performing a Product Owner role for Data and Analytics working across the SAP and Software development departments.

* Working with the Product owner and Pre-Sales team in order to identify new business opportunities related to data and analytics.

About you

I am looking for the following, although you don’t necessarily need all of the skills listed:

* Proven experience of managing a technical team.

* Working knowledge of a database engine.

* Working knowledge of multiple DB technologies i.e. SQL Server, DB2 an advantage.

* Strong XML, SQL and NoSQL skills.

* Business analysis experience.

* The ability to prepare and interpret ERDs.

* Logical data modelling knowledge.

* Physical data/relational database design experience.

* Developing and maintaining coherent and flexible database designs, facilitating/enabling the integration of multiple projects to a standard data model.

* Retail experience would be highly desirable, but experience of working with data from transactional and event based databases or large customer databases would also be sufficient. (FS, Telco, Utilities, Travel etc.)

Location

Coventry/Warwickshire area – UK

Some international travel will be required, as part of this organisation’s rapid growth includes major advancements in markets abroad, particularly in North America.
