We are looking for a Business Analyst for our client based in Leeds.

In the role of a Business Analyst role, you will work alongside the IT Business Partners as the bridge between the sponsoring business areas, IT and other areas of the business on specific issues and requests for change.

You will also work with the Business Stakeholder or Sponsor to analyse and understand the particular business problem and potential solutions and to complete initial cost benefit analysis.

Purpose of the Job

* Be the key liaison between IT and business end-users for IT requirements and design
* Understand and analyse business problems to determine solution and design options
* Define the shape and scope of solutions
* Lead on the elicitation of functional and non-functional requirements
* Document and organise requirements and user stories using appropriate tools
* Define and document requirements acceptance criteria
* Work closely with Third Party suppliers and internal Software Development and Testing teams
* Assist with the creation of business cases covering estimated benefits, costs and design options
* Assist, guide and influence stakeholders towards cost effective and strategic solutions
* Understand business strategy and objectives and how these can be delivered
* Ensure that proposed solutions are aligned with business policy and design principles

Key Responsibilities

* Support shaping and delivery for strategic and tactical IT change
* Facilitate requirements conversations with Product Owners, Business and Delivery Teams
* Document requirements (functional / non-functional)
* Document Epics, Features, User stories to support internal software development
* Define acceptance criteria for solutions
* Document IT and Business Processes
* Work with stakeholders to prioritise requirements
* Communicate requirements and obtain approval of design and solutions
* Support and provide IT input to bids/tender responses
* Identify risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and constraints to change
* Undertake impact, option and solution feasibility assessments
* Support creation of business cases and cost/benefit analysis
* Manage ongoing changes to requirements
* Support supplier selection activity
* Review and provide feedback on third party design proposals
* Assure third party delivery and alignment to requirements
* Contribute to the wider BA community
* Complete required status reports and time recording activity
* Adherence to internal processes, policies, technical architecture and risk frameworks

Qualifications

* Educated to A-level standard, degree level or equivalent preferred but not essential.
* Desirable to have or be undertaking learning towards a recognised BA qualification e.g. ISEB and IIBA.

You will have the following knowledge and skills:

* Communication Skills – Good communication skills across a range of channels and audiences to clearly explain ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Problem Solving Skills – Ability to logically break down a problem to identify constituent parts and root causes
* Documentation / Specification Skills – the ability to clearly articulate technical and non-technical solutions and designs to a variety of audiences
* Analysis Skills – the ability to use a variety of techniques to undertake analyse and deconstruct problems e.g SWOT, Cost/Benefit etc
* Visual Modelling – the ability to translate complex ideas and concepts into straightforward and simple to understand outputs
* Facilitation and Elicitation Skills – Must have facilitation techniques to manage stakeholders at all levels in meetings/workshops and to accurately record agreed outcomes and ensure follow-up activity is tracked and completed
* Influencing Skills - Must have negotiation and influencing skills to progress actions/issues and gain agreement/sign-off of deliverables
* Tools – Desirable to have experience of development and requirements management tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Team Services. You must have experience of MS Applications including Visio.
* Interpersonal / Relationship Skills – you must have good interpersonal skill and the ability to listen, question and interpret stakeholder requirements and build on-going relationships.
* Self-Management – self organised
* Methodology – Desirable to have exposure to agile ways of working (SCRUM, DSDM) and tools (Kanban)
* BA Tools and Techniques – Experience of process mapping (BPMN or similar), data modelling (ER Diagrams, system modelling (UML), requirements specification (User Stories, Functional Specifications)
