Senior / Associate Town Planner – Darlington

Penguin Recruitment are delighted to assist with a leading multi-disciplinary who due to continued success, are looking to appoint a Senior / Associate Planning Consultant to their busy team in Darlington.
Our client’s project range is diverse, extending across a wide range of private and public sector clients. Principal work areas include housing, commercial and mixed-use schemes, award winning sports stadia, retail, renewable energy, environmental assessments, retirement living, education and healthcare.
The Position
Having been recognised for their achievements on multiple occasions with award wins you will work alongside a friendly and experienced management team who will provide the support and guidance to help you reach your career objectives.
Key duties will include:
* Undertake planning research and analysis.
* Provide accurate and timely planning advice to clients.
* Prepare planning appraisals of land, buildings and concepts.
* Prepare planning applications, including planning statements.
* Contribute to the preparation and editing of consultant reports which support planning applications including Design & Access statements, sustainability statements.
* Liaise with planning officers, employees of consultee organisations and third parties.
* Liaise and maintain good working relationships with clients and fellow professionals.
* Assist in drawing up, presenting and negotiating competitive proposals.
* Assist in developing creative and original solutions to satisfy all parties.
* Write complex reports, interpreting data and making clear and relevant recommendations
About You:
The successful Senior / Associate Planner will hold the following attributes:
* Attention to detail, focused and accurate.
* Thrives under pressure, can work to tight deadlines and can manage competing priorities.
* Team player and willing to provide support advice to other team members when required.
* Strives to deliver an exceptional level of service to clients at all times.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
* Ability to front client work and retain clients passed on to them.
In addition, it is essential that the successful candidate will be MRTPI qualified, hold Planning Consultancy and / or Local Authority experience and hold experience preparing and managing site appraisals, planning applications, appeals and written representations on planning policy. Experience managing multiple competing planning projects for key clients is highly desirable.
