Job Purpose

To ensure that all the building and plant are maintained safely, efficiently, timely, to specification and in a cost effective manner in line with business needs. The role will encompass the following areas:

* The Thornbury site and its buildings
* Machines & Equipment within the Machine Shop, Maintenance, Fabrication, Paint Line and Assembly
* Contractors and Service Providers relating to plant and machinery

The key tasks involved in this role are:

Ensuring they work safely and efficiently to help resolve appropriately all maintenance related activities within the business whether they are operational, environmental or relate to the premises.

* Promoting Health and Safety, identifying and rectifying opportunities for improvement, coaching and developing the team on Health and Safety best practices.
* Ensure no individual operates machines or performs maintenance tasks unsupervised beyond their approved level as identified on the Skills Matrix.
* Monitor the team’s efficiency, address poor performance and communicate to Supervisory /management individuals continuing to underperform.
* Continually improve the housekeeping and presentation of the teams working area by adopting and applying 5S principles.
* Identifying, seeking approval and as appropriate delivering structured training.
* Participate in team toolbox talks and provide feedback or forward questions to management.

Efficient and On Time Delivery of the Maintenance Schedule:

* Co-ordinate with Production and Flexiform Management to continually review and develop the maintenance schedule as appropriate.
* Work closely with the Production team to identify and agree Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) tasks to be performed by operators.
* Ensure machine, tooling and equipment breakdowns are effectively and accurately documented to aid investigation.
* Identify, recommend and effectively store appropriate spare parts to aid a speedy response to a breakdown.
* Work as part of the production team to reduce lost time due to breakdowns on key machines and processes.
* To provide appropriate out of hours cover for key machines and processes.
* Coordinate with the Production Leader and Supervisors to mutually agree when machines will be made available for Maintenance TPM and services.
* Receive and co-ordinate external contractors and suppliers whilst on site.

Ensure all appropriate departmental Systems, Procedures and Processes are maintained to a high standard. Identify, develop and implement improvements ensuring the changes and documented and communicated effectively.

* Ensure maintenance documentation and computer systems are completed promptly and accurately to comply with all applicable legislation.
* Ensure products are clearly identified and in suitable locations throughout the process.
* Provide daily information and data on the appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
* Identify, Participate and Support Continuous Improvement Projects in support of the company’s goals and objectives.
* Help identify and reduce “Waste” within the maintenance and production department.
* Contribute to the development of new products and improvements to existing products and processes.
* Participate in discussions regarding the purchase of new machines or tooling.
* Source products or service, where appropriate, from external suppliers in a cost effective manner
