About this Role:

A World leading Civil Engineering Contractor is looking to engage a Senior Planning Engineer to work on a major motorway upgrade in South Wales.

This Tier 1 Contractor Joint venture is underway with the first stage of ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) contract for the M4 Corridor to the south of the city of Newport.

The new 24km long section of motorway includes a 2.5km long cable-stayed viaduct above the River Usk, two key interchanges and 36 structures.

Role Profile

Planning and programming civil engineering works at Tender and Construction stage.

Monitoring progress during construction, re-programming if required.

Preparation of submission documents.

Preparation of compensation event programmes and narrative.

Presentation/dissemination of planning/programming philosophy

Principal Duties & Accountabilities

Tender Stage:

Work within tender team as part of the planning function

Assist in the preparation of well-engineered sub-programmes, which add to the tender chances of success.

Assess tender temporary works requirements and value engineering solutions.

Assess tender major quantities and assess errors/discrepancies.

Support the presentation of programme philosophy and tender strategy advantages at review stage

Support the Planning Manager at client presentations

Contract Stage:

Prepare and or develop from tender programme, well-engineered contract programmes, which contribute to successful project outcome in terms of time and cost.

Prepare monitoring systems and monitor contract progress.

Prepare monthly progress reports for submission with monthly report and present at monthly progress meetings with Client.

Prepare compensation event programmes and narratives, which facilitate successful compensation event resolution.

Adherence to company policies and procedures

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required

Understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.

Understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.

Understanding of risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning/programming.

Understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.

About the Company/Client/Project:

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or another relevant subject.

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
