Closing Date Friday 27th April, 2018MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE: The Communication, Marketing & Events Director (CMED) is critical to the company achieving its strategic purpose. Reporting to the CEO, the CMED is a key member of the executive management team (EST), providing leadership and ultimate responsibility for the creation, implementation and measuring the success of an integrated marketing, stakeholder engagement, PR, communication and events strategy. The post holder is expected to be creative, passionate and work effectively within budget.As a new role, the specific duties and responsibilities will develop organically in the short term. The CEO and post holder will agree a final job description at an appropriate time. The success of this role will be assessed against individual objectives and team key performance indicators. Performance will also be judged against the overall delivery of the strategic / delivery plan against the requirements of the Remit Letter. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Communications & PR§Responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s communications strategy to drive engagement with stakeholders, industry influencers and opinion leaders, in Wales, the UK and Internationally.§Overall responsibility for Welsh, national and international media relationships.§Develop and deliver the strategic communications plan to support the company’s business objectives, extending awareness of its work and increase its reach into key market segments.§Determine the prioritisation and delivery of all of company communications including press and PR activity, all print communications, digital communications and activities relating to stakeholder relationship management.Marketing §Overall ownership of the online and offline marketing strategies and campaigns from concept to execution. Ensuring alignment with and achievement of company goals, which will include: oIdentifying and defining the company’s key market segments and developing impactful marketing strategies specific to each one.oDevelopment of the brand, brand awareness and brand positioning strategy. oContent of all outbound collateral securing quality, consistency and clarity of message across all company functions.Events§Oversee the planning, creation, and implementation of the events programme which is to form an integral part of achieving the company’s key objectives.§Ensuring all events are delivered to brief, budget, deadline and to the highest quality. §Represent the company at events, maximising opportunity to participate in conference programmes§Capturing and reporting outcomes and impacts. Leadership and Ambassadorial§Contribute to the Executive Team as a senior leader with the ability to work in a corporate style.§Support the CEO and the Commercial Director in the development of effective ongoing relationships with all key stakeholders in Wales, the UK and Internationally.§Secure commitment, input and resources from key stakeholders and partner organisations to develop and support the work of the organisation and actively promote the delivery of the mission to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative solutions for better health and wellbeing.§Ensure that the Head of Marketing and Events and the Head of Communications and PR develop and deliver impactful, integrated campaigns that deliver joint objectives as part of the overall marketing and communications strategy to achieve the company’s business objectives.People Management§Lead on recruitment and induction of direct reportees.§Manage, motivate, support and develop direct reportees to ensure that they are able to deliver their responsibilities.§Conduct regular one-to-one review meetings, including half-year appraisals to support development, monitor performance against strategic objectives and key performance indicators.§Work in a collaborative management style and foster close working relations between all employees.§Drive culture change within the organisation, play a key role in the development and implementation of organisational values.§Promote diversity, inclusion and equality within the organisation and wider partners.Financial Responsibilities§Accountability for marketing, events, PR and communication budget; working with direct reportees and Operations team to set, monitor and report on annual budget.§Support COO in the management of assets and resources.§Ensure that the processes relating to financial aspects of the department are effectively applied, through regular monitoring and challenge.§Rigorously scrutinise and track value of programmes and projects.§Secure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.§Constantly strive for value for money and greater efficiency.Performance, Risk and Compliance Management§As part of EMT, work with board of directors to develop annual business plans which meet the requirements of the Remit Letter issued by Welsh Government.§Accountable for creating a results driven culture - establishing individual and team metrics to measure the effectiveness, efficiency and impact of all activities within function and achievement of company Key Performance Indicators.§Develop, implement and embed systems to capture performance data and maintain relevant project documentation. Work with team to ensure performance data and project documentation is robust, accurate and reported within mandated timescales.§Work with team to identify and review progress against milestones and monitor progress against plans. Work with Communication and Marketing team to promote successes and develop and implement remedial plans to address shortfalls, targets not being achieved or in danger of not being met.§Consider governance, risk, compliance and control frameworks across all activities and support COO to develop and maintain same. Ensure that the impact of programme risks/issues are clearly understood by team and executive management and that appropriate resolutions are identified and implemented. Escalating serious or strategic issues to Board/Audit and Remuneration Committee as appropriate.§Produce reports as required for executive management, Board, ARC, internal and external committees and groups, Welsh Government or any other stakeholder.§Promote and support the achievement of the company’s mission, vision and goals.General §Working closely with the wider team to enable them to meet their objectives by providing appropriate tools and materials. §To promote and support the achievement of the company’s mission, vision and goals.§To maintain a high standard of probity in professional, personnel and financial matters, maintaining good relations with colleagues and external partners and to act in accordance with the company’s code of conduct.KNOWLEDGE§An understanding of the opportunities and challenges the health and care sector, specifically faced by NHS Wales.§An appreciation of the political context and framework for a company operating as an ‘arm’s length body’ of the Welsh Government.§Exceptional knowledge of marketing, communication and PR strategies and techniques.§Strong understanding of regulations and legislation impacting on the marketing function e.g. GDPR and copyright.§Full working knowledge of window based software packages, relevant design and publication software. EXPERIENCE§Strategy development and operational delivery in a major, complex, multi-stakeholder environment.§Leadership at director/senior management level, reporting to and advising Board of Directors. §Demonstrable planning, risk and issue management. §Successful track record of building strong relationships.§Brand management experience.§Successful track record in planning, implementing and measuring communications/PR strategies and programmes across multi-mediums to support strategic objectives.§Successful track record in planning, implementing and measuring annual programme of events to support strategic objectives.§Successful track record of project, budget and resource management.
