Quality Engineer – Manufacturing – Somerset – MO/IM320

Salary / benefits: to c£35k, depend upon experience

Job Term: Permanent / Full Time

Job Outline:

Owing to a successful period of growth, a leading designer and manufacturer of optoelectronic products is now looking for an additional Quality Engineer to join their Somerset facility.

Your primary responsibilities will be to coordinate structured root cause analysis in relation to problem solving; customer, supplier and assisting with internally generated issues.

In addition you will conduct internal audits both from a business process and manufacturing compliance perspective.

Your activities will support the transition to AS9100, ensuring standards are compliant, maintained and meet with business needs in support of a more robust infrastructure.

You will perform internal audits to proactively determine quality risks and work with appropriate management/staff to ensure satisfactory mitigation.

As a key in leading the Quality activities you will provide mentoring, coaching and suggest corrective actions as necessary; and develop strategic plans in which business goals and objectives are met.

Working closely with all functional areas you will identify supply related issues and work closely with Purchasing in closing the route cause with the supplier. This will include providing analysis and regular tracking of issues related to material non-conformance.

You will undertake audits of suppliers, process compliance and verification of Business Processes.

The responsibilities will involve you in all areas of Quality Engineering, both internally and externally, working with suppliers, customers, and cross departments.


A Degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline is preferred.

Ideally you will hold Internal or Lead Auditor qualifications in AS9100 or ISO13485


As the successful candidate you will have a proven track record in Quality Engineering, within a precision engineering / manufacturing environment, working to LEAN Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement Processes.
