Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Position Summary - Senior Infrastructure engineer
The IT function is centralized in London for their 3 offices (London, New York and Hong Kong) and is supported by 2 external IT support companies in the remote offices. The team is specialized on infrastructure components and business systems and covers in their fields of expertise everything from support over Project management and Strategy.
Within the Desktop and Application support function, this role will be the only dedicated role at the moment. The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible along for supporting all aspects of hard- and software of desktops, servers and network components as well as troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.
The person will primarily oversee the desktop environment and standard applications and ensures that end-users and business units are receiving the appropriate assistance. This includes the responsibility of managing the helpdesk system, creating and managing all procedures and documentation related to desktops and desktop applications.

Knowledge & Experience - Senior Infrastructure engineer
• Excellent technical knowledge of network and operating systems including VMware, Windows Server 2008 R2-2016, Windows 7-10, Exchange Server (Apply online only) and Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco routers and switches. Certifications in Windows Server, Exchange and Cisco routing protocols and firewalls preferred.
• Excellent technical knowledge and application support experience with Server/Network monitoring systems (Solarwinds).
• Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Extensive support experience in a corporate and centrally managed environment.
• Knowledge of current trends in technology.
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Very good understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities - Senior Infrastructure engineer
• Assist Infrastructure Manager in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future technology needs.
• Create and deploy feedback mechanisms for end users. Analyse results, make recommendations for support process improvement, and implement changes.
• Evaluate documented resolutions and analyse trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.
• Analyse performance of Help Desk activities and documented resolutions, identify problem areas, and devise and deliver solutions to enhance quality of service and to prevent future problems.
• Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date and relevant.
• Conduct research on products in support of infrastructure procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase.
• Write technical specifications for purchase of hardware, software and related products.
• Provide support for the testing of new and existing software applications under development or consideration for purchase.
• Manage the transfer of internally developed software between testing environments and into production.
• Liaise with vendors for the procurement of new systems technologies, oversee installation, and resolve adaptation issues.
• Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including support and oversight for the remote IT support companies as needed.
• Assist Infrastructure Manager in resolution of application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
• Identify security incidents and alert the InfoSec team.
• Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network, server, end-user workstations, telephony and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels.
• Rebuild computing devices that have been used in locations of significant risk.
• Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PCs.
• Collaborate with the Infrastructure Manager to ensure efficient operation of the company’s network, computing and telephony environment.
• Manage the processing of incoming requests to the Help Desk via both telephone and e-mail to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end user issues.
• Record, track, and document the problem-solving process.
• Prioritize time-critical actions within tickets
• Coordinate and/or perform hands-on fixes, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
• Track and analyze trends in Help Desk requests and generate statistical reports.
• Participate in the design, development, and delivery of software applications training programs and individual classes.
• Post software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on company intranet to assist in problem resolution.
• Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, anti-virus software, and so on.
• Responsible for the operation of the anti-malware solution
