Competent qualified Stress Engineer who has solid experience working in structural stress, bending and flexing with polymer based materials. Further, the Stress Engineer will have over at least several years where they have supported the design and development of procedures to test polymer products. Including, strain gauging, rigs, jigs and fixtures and other test equipment that would be required to both destruction testing and NDT.

Joining an exciting and expanding manufacturing engineering business the role of the Stress Engineer / Test Manager will be to help relieve the existing head of department. This is a small team and would suit someone who is dynamic and able to work in a fast pace environment.

This role would suit a Stress / Structural Engineer with good practical experience and ideally hands on experience in a mechanical arena. Good understanding of analysis (FEA, FEM) would be very helpful as the engineer will be working closely with the design and analysis team.

Job functions include:

* Report to head of department
* Provide detailed analysis, modelling and design of composite polymer materials
* FE Analysis and development
* Software modelling of precision parts
* Prepare tests & test campaigns
* Use of a mainstream analysis package such as ANSYS or ABAQUS
* Data extraction and management from acquired information
* Manage test data and prepare reports accordingly
* Contribute to development of engineering technology and test tools
* Liaise with other members of the analysis and engineering team
* Proficient in writing design reports and calculation sheets
* Research and Development project work
* Ability to be client facing on occasions – good interpersonal skills required

* Design and development of jigs / rigs in a testing environment

Requirements:

* Good academic background, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD or similar from a leading university in Engineering / Manufacturing / Physics / Mathematics / Computer Science or similar discipline
* Polymer material / polymer structures experience
* Stress / Structural analysis (FEA)
* Use of a CAD package
* Excellent and first class report and documentation writing skills
