Alliance Healthcare is a leading distributor and wholesaler of pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare products, serving over 16,200 pharmacies, hospitals and dispensing doctors throughout the UK on a twice daily basis.

As a global leader in pharmacy-led health and wellbeing retail, operating one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution networks, Walgreens Boots Alliance is committed to creating a world-class supply chain in the UK, fit to meet the future needs of its customers, and their patients. To do this, we regularly review and assess operational efficiency across the UK Walgreens Boots Alliance businesses, to determine where further improvements, investment and collaboration will ensure we are best-placed to meet the needs of our customers, and enable long-term business growth.

As an outcome of this review process, over the next three years, we are undertaking a number of large change management projects which will impact various business units within our wider group.

In addition with several new Government regulations coming into play – shortly GDPR and in early 2019 the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD), – along with Brexit, there is a need for focused and targeted internal and external communication plans to be implemented around these important topics.

The really exciting role operates in a matrix structure, reporting directly into the Head of Communications and Marketing for Alliance Healthcare UK. The Special Projects Communications Manager will be responsible for supporting the Head of Communications and Marketing to:

  1. Implement a comprehensive, overarching communications plan for the change management programme and other projects, including external and internal requirements, to ensure the programme is delivered successfully, and with minimal business and reputational risk.
  2. Work collaboratively to ensure seamless implementation of each release/deliverable and ensure business readiness for the upcoming changes.
  3. Partner with project’s stakeholders to evaluate the communication effectiveness and employees’ engagement opportunities. Follow up periodically to ensure that the project integrity remains in place and that the project’s communication remains valid (adherence to the project, readiness to change, etc.).
