Based in Edinburgh, ESS Holding's client is a well-established bio-manufacturing organisation, with an internationally recognised product portfolio. The product range includes in vitro diagnostics for use in clinical laboratories throughout the world. The organisation also offers contract services to the bioscience industry and currently manufactures products for major global players in the Life Sciences sectors. They now need to make the key hire of a Maintenance Technician as they build a brand new purpose built facility near Edinburgh.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Technician will provide required engineering support to ensure manufacturing and facility equipment is calibrated, maintained, optimised and functioning to expected operating standards; resulting in reduced downtime, increased yield, maximum quality and throughput. Other key responsibilities should include:

Responsible for ensuring that all work undertaken complies with SOP’s, statutory/regulatory requirements and principals of cGMP.
Initiate developmental and improvement initiatives for equipment, staff and processes.
Maintain equipment, in accordance with relevant procedures, instructions and manuals ensuring equipment is operating and functioning correctly.
Proactive, disciplined approach in identifying the next priority - Solution orientated.
Efficient use of personal time while at work - Time and attendance is in line with business expectations and requirements.
Responsible for checking and maintaining work environments in accordance with cGMP and relevant Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
Report any unsafe act, product quality or integrity breech.
Must support business overtime requirements and “out of hours” emergency service. Time served or educated to HNC/HNC calibre in a technical or engineering discipline, you are a proven facilities or maintenance engineer or technician. We are keen to consider candidates who have worked to GMP manufacturing standards in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device or life science business. However, this will also suit candidates with previous cleanroom engineering experience or those from an FMCG/food and drink background. Sound mechanical and electrical skills are required, along with an appreciation of HVAC, purified water, compressed air, boiler or Auto-Cleaves and other lab type equipment.

This is an excellent chance to join a thriving and highly successful Scottish business, part of a much larger UK based blue chip business, about to commission a new manufacturing facility near Edinburgh. A highly competitive basic salary is on offer with a comprehensive benefits package including company pension, healthcare and company bonus. This is a 14 month contract, but may go permanent for the right person.
