Senior PHP Developer

Salary: £28,000 - £35,00 p.a depending on experience and qualifications

Location: Sheffield

Are you an experienced PHP Developer who is looking for a new challenge and would like to work for a fantastic charity based in Sheffield?

My client is on the hunt for a PHP developer to join their small dynamic head-office team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help develop applications that serve a young market, they constantly need to update and develop their systems, use the latest technologies and integrate with new online services.

The Role:

The main applications are built in PHP using a variety of frameworks, with an RDS hosted MySQL data backend. They integrate these with authentication services from Microsoft Azure and document services from Google.

You’ll create new solutions and update existing PHP code, MySQL queries, Vue.js front-ends and relevant server configurations.

You would be responsible for the development and performance of the entire infrastructure, under the leadership and management of the Head of Design and Development. You would carry out development and maintenance projects as well as commissioning external suppliers and managing support contracts

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop new and existing web applications

a. Ensure the continued high performance of our applications and websites

b. Recommended improvements to existing applications and systems

c. Establish requirements for new software and services, both for internal systems and systems for external clients

d. Code/configure new functionality directly, or commission external developers

e. Develop reports and data management solutions for staff

2. Provide support and assistance

a. Update and fix issues with our IT infrastructure to ensure the continued high performance of our network, servers and clients

b. Support and train staff in their use of hardware, operating systems and software

3. Manage our systems

a. Configure systems (e.g. for new applications, to improve performance)

b. Ensure our system configuration and staff training complies with applicable IT legislation

c. Keep the Head of Design and Development up-to-date with systems performance

d. Other IT and organisational tasks as requested

The Person:

* Educated at degree-level or have gained equivalent workplace skills
* Minimum 3 years professional web-development experience in PHP, MySQL, HTML & JS
* In-depth knowledge of web-based software systems, including the full LAMP stack
* Experience of working with databases, either at a code level or data reporting level
* Able to communicate and contribute well as part of a team
* Self-disciplined, able to prioritise, with good motivation and organisation skills

Salary:

Competitive basic salary of £28,000 - £35,000 p.a depending on experience.

Commutable from Worksop, Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Leeds.
