About this Role:

A World leading Civil Engineering Contractor is looking to engage a Planning Manager to work on a major motorway upgrade in South Wales.

This Tier 1 Contractor Joint venture is underway with the first stage of ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) contract for the M4 Corridor to the south of the city of Newport.

The new 24km long section of motorway includes a 2.5km long cable-stayed viaduct above the River Usk, two key interchanges and 36 structures.


Overall responsibility of the planning function on the project.

Co-ordinating programmes for the works.

Monitoring and reporting progress.

Communication of programme information to team and stakeholders.

Presentation and negotiations of programme entitlement for additional works.

Working with the Construction Manager to ensure the construction programme is robust.

Ensure that the construction sequence is safe to build. Identify and facilitate elimination or reduction of potential hazards through planning.

Promote a culture of 'right first time' and 'zero defects' through engineering excellence.

Ensure timescales for commitments, actions and deliverables are met.

Role Profile

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required

Understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.

Understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.

Understanding of risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning/programming.

Understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.

About the Company/Client/Project:

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or another relevant subject.

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
