Enterprise Data Architect – London (Central) – Permanent

Salary: £60,000 - £82,000 + excellent benefits package (salary dependant on experience)

35 hours per week.

The Role

We are hiring a Data Architect for a well-respected, global retail group based in Central London. Working as a member of the Information Architecture team, you will be responsible for the creation and evolution of group-wide approaches to and implementations of our logical data models and data architecture, as well as accelerating our information governance approaches (reference data, MDM, data stewardship, metadata management) with our key business stakeholders.

As an Enterprise Data Architect working across the group, your role will be to define approaches to data architectures as well as to provide guidance to data architecture delivery within projects. You will leverage your skills and experience to ensure that the organisation is using information consistently and effectively across increasingly integrated businesses.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain the Data Architecture (model) and roadmap for Group information – creating a flexible data model which supports each of the divisions to achieve their strategic aims, whilst ensuring a common approach

* Develop logical, physical and conceptual data models to underpin the use of data across the group

* Model the processes and information required to support the organization and devise corresponding standards, processes, data structures and architectures

* Contribute to the enterprise data model; data dictionary; data naming standards; XML schema design standards and maintenance of data integrity across systems

* Research, evaluate and advise on emerging data collection and analysis and integration technologies. Identifying cost effective ways to achieve business information needs
* Contribute to high level solution design, in line with the business strategy, the enterprise architecture and the technology roadmap; ensuring the data model and legal requirements are adhered to
* Provide guidance and support on data architecture and specialist data modelling advice to project teams and advise teams on the correct approach to the use of Group data
* Responsible for identifying and recommending common data and integration technologies, frameworks and approaches for use by development teams on projects, including the identification of specific technologies to be used

About you

I am looking for the following, although you don’t necessarily need all of the skills listed:

* Strong experience of data modelling techniques and approaches—canonical, conceptual, logical & physical—and their practical application.

* Strong working knowledge of technologies and approaches to both integration and analytics, as well as the emerging domains of data science, machine learning, AI & cognitive

* Good knowledge of IT governance frameworks and approaches

* Demonstrable experience of senior & executive stakeholder management

* Good working knowledge of relevant information and payment legislation (such as GDPR and PCI)

* Advanced presentation and communication skills

* Experience working in both agile and more traditional delivery environments
