Senior Civil Engineer

We are looking to recruit a Civil Engineer to join our client’s civil Engineering team in Hartlepool.

The successful candidate will join an established team working on water, drainage and infrastructure projects, across a wide range of related disciplines including: drainage design, wastewater (sewerage); highway design (S388 and S278), flood studies, flood protection and reservoirs. Experience on housing developments in particular is required as well as the ability to manage projects independently and other member of the team.

Responsibilities:

Exercise due care and diligence in all aspects of engineering design and detailing.
Drawings to be produced using AutoDesk Civil 3D. Calculations to be produced using industry standard software i.e. WinDes by MicroDrainage, Tuflow, HECRAS
Undertake pre-purchase feasibility studies and resolution of planning conditions including drainage feasibility and highways considerations. Knowledge of design and implication of flood risk assessments and SUD`s techniques advantageous.
Undertake Drainage Feasibility and Strategy Studies and reports
Undertake Flood Risk Assessments and reports
Preparation of 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, vertical road pro-files etc. where necessary
Liaise and communicate with clients and external agencies i.e. Local Lead Flood Authorities, Environment Agency, Highway Authorities and Sewerage authorities etc.
Undertake site inspections
Maintain professional development

Qualifications / Experience

2.1 degree in Civil Engineering preferable
Progressing towards Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status or recently qualified
Knowledge and experience of infrastructure design using Microdrainage and PDS Software
Experience of design of SUDS and maintenance strategies
Experience on residential housing developments, including NHBC conditions clearance
Proven ability of obtaining regulatory approval for infrastructure works, e.g S27, S278, S104 etc
Flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team structure
Confidence and ability to maximise the level of responsibility taken on projects and ability to be client facing
Confidence and ability to maximise the level of responsibility taken on projects
Some construction industry experience would be advantageous
