Salary: MPS – UPS (+ TLR2b)

£26, 662 - £42, 498 (+ £4,442)


Job Start: September 2018

We are seeking to recruit a Head of Year on behalf of a thriving school in the borough of Hillingdon. This rapidly improving school is expanding year-on-year, as it has recently become co-educational and welcomed girls into year 7 for the first time in September. The school also boasts a fantastic new building and grounds, which are extremely impressive and resourced with the latest technologies and equipment.

The school is led by a dedicated Head Teacher and senior leadership team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop within an exciting and creative curriculum and be part of a highly motivated team, which prides itself on its collaborative working practices, and who are transforming the lives of pupils in the area.

The Head of Year role includes a teaching commitment (ratio to be agreed) and teachers with any subject specialisms will be considered, but a background in English, Maths, ICT, Art or RE teaching is highly desirable at this time.

Key Features of the Role:

* Monitoring and enhancing curriculum and pastoral Provision for a year group: Quality Assurance
* Tracking the progress and achievements of students in year group and ensuring, through intervention strategies, that their attainment is maximised
* Line management of others
* To lead, manage, motivate and develop a year team of tutors
* To support students in the year group
* Effective liaison with parents
* To effectively manage budgets and resources for the year group
* Effective teaching of a specialist subject
* Strategic Leadership, including contributing to School Improvement Plans
* To contribute to and support the school’s aims, ethos and policies
* To contribute to the life of the school community

Key Skills and Competencies:

* QTS (or equivalent)
* Degree in specialist subject
* A proven track record of raising standards for pupils of all abilities
* Use of innovative approaches to development of teaching and learning, including the innovative use of ICT
* Experience of providing a positive and supportive presence in the daily operations of the school
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments and how students learn
* Leads by example
* Ability to analyse and interpret pupil performance data and set challenging but realistic targets.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a school team and with students and parents
* Ability to work under pressure
* Ability to prioritise
* Ability to accept responsibility for problems that may arise and actively seek solutions
* Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
* ICT literate
* Willingness to ‘go the extra mile’
