About this Role:
A World leading Civil Engineering Contractor is looking to engage a Site Engineer to work in their Civil Engineering Division, initially on a £40M project in Ashford, Kent.
This project involves the construction of a new Junction just south of Ashford will involve the construction of two new bridges and connect the existing A20 and a new dual carriageway link road built to the A2070 near Sevington.
Roles/Responsibilities:
* Acting as the main technical adviser on site for subcontractors, crafts people and operatives;
* Setting out, levelling and surveying the site;
* Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations;
* Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications;
* Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant;
* Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect;
* Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project;
* Liaising with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress;
* Planning the work and efficiently organising the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines;
* Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site;
* Preparing reports as required;
* Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
The Requirements
* Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or another relevant subject.
* Experience of working within a Site Engineer role on multi-million pound highways projects.
* Extensive experience of working within the UK Civils/Highway industry.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
* An ability to liaise successfully with both members of the project team as well as clients and other
contractors within a framework.
Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately
Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes
Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card
Must be a good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Understands Permit to Dig System
Environmental awareness
Setting out techniques – ability to use level & EDM, plus GPS
Able to report issues with control and information provided
Reads and understands drawings and schedules
Understands Activity Control Plans and production of resultant information for handover file
Strong understanding of construction tolerances
Awareness and use of Specification and other Contract documents
Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works
Knowledge of specification and contract documents
Understands what constitutes additional works
Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately
