Job Title: Technology and Innovation Analyst

My Client is seeking a dedicated Technology and Innovation Analyst to work within their team on Battery Storage Projects in the UK. The successful candidate will work alongside engineers and analyst to help grow the company launching and delivering new technology and innovation projects and will be involved in the whole cycle of our offering, from financing through to operation and maintenance.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Contribute to distributed energy resources market segment analysis
• Develop and maintain multi-criteria technology assessments
• Contribute to technology and innovation project delivery from initiation through to closure
• Analyse data sets and lead feasibility studies and business case assessments
• Develop models (e.g. excel-based) for assessing data and/or calculating technical or business case performance
• Contribute to requirements, scope, and analysis for low carbon innovation and technology projects
• Present and document compelling cases and pitch ideas to senior management
• Understand and articulate technical and commercial challenges
• Develop project concepts, including stakeholder, commercial and regulatory considerations, which clearly states problem, solution, timeframe, and resource requirements
• Represent the department within external clients and conferences

Essential Experience
• Experience in Energy Storage.
• Understanding of power systems, electricity markets, the value of flexibility from different distributed energy resources, industrial and commercial applications and the benefits of using smart grid technologies
• Knowledge of energy storage market, energy storage technologies and applications
• Degree in engineering, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline
• Experience working with unfamiliar data sets and performing intelligent data cleansing
• Experience in scripting, analysing, manipulating and visualising large data sets in Excel and/or other software packages such as R, SPSS and MATLAB
• Experience or understanding in techno-economic assessments
• Strong report writing skills and ability to produce clear and logical written communication
• Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
• Highly motivated to learn on the job, interface with clients, as well as undertake training
• Confidently build and maintain external and internal relationships
• Experience or ability to understand, identify and assess business models for distributed energy resources
• Flexible approach to work, and ability to prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and client needs
• Information seeker and data/fact driven
• Pay strong attention to detail and demonstrate accurate work
• Personal drive for growth and development of low carbon solutions
• High level of IT literacy and numeracy skills
• A proven record in delivering technical projects and demonstrable ability to transfer these skills to the electrical sector
• Track record in project management or project management qualifications
• Strong inter-personal / communication skills in order to present strategies, analysis and recommendations
• Team player and willingness to follow instructions
• Ability to be adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Have a systematic logical approach to problem solving

Desirable Experience
• Experience with investment and business case assessment
• Experience in electric vehicles infrastructure and microgrids
• Practical experience in delivering network and ancillary services from distributed energy resources
• Electricity and/or utility industry experience
• Laboratory or industrial applied experience
• Commercial and/or consulting experience
• Chartered engineer or committed to working towards chartership
• Postgraduate degree
• Publications in international conferences and journals
• Experience in stakeholder mapping and delivering market updates and opportunity reports
