Role Purpose:
The Junior Software Developer in the IT Software Development Team writes and maintains the Company’s internal and external application suite supporting Company Functions, Group Companies and Contracts, External Subcontractors and External Companies. The Junior Software Developer is also intended to assist with development projects already underway and will often be mentored by other members of the team.
Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the development of internal applications under the guidance of the Software Development Manager and IT Software Development team
- Follow guidelines to ensure that systems are maintained and monitored in line with Service level Agreements.
- Follow guidelines to ensure that all in-house developed applications meet security requirements and compliance of the group’s external funding bodies
- Follow guidelines to ensure that all in-house developed applications meet security requirements to ISO27001 and compliance of the group’s external funding bodies
- Assist in the testing of in-house development applications prior to progression to the live environment.
- Ensure that changes to all applications are recorded through change management.
- Provide support to customers on a day-to-day basis for all in-house developed applications
- Ensure all work requests are completed and updated in a timely fashion
- Maintain relationships with third party suppliers

Experience / Knowledge:

- Strong analytical skills with ability and creativity to solve complex problems
- Excellent trouble-shooting skills
- Practical exposure to, and experience using C#
- Degree level qualification or relevant other working experience in a development environment
- Knowledge of modern application development technologies and principles including Object Oriented Design and Normalisation
- Good technical knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office suites
- Knowledge of SQL
- Good written / communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn; from other team members and from online sources wherever appropriate
