Working week Monday-FridayTotal hours per week: 40.00 Weekly wage £148.00

Main duties involved:

Supporting our experienced motor mechanics, observing and learning, listening and following instruction, ensuring the workspace is clean and tidy and respecting health and safety regulations at all times. Working towards an accredited qualification at the same time.

Capabilities – knowledge and understanding

Vehicle technologies – vehicle systems such as chassis, engine, transmission, electrical, air conditioning, high voltage etc. The types and characteristics of a vehicle e.g. front or rear wheel drive, four-wheel drive etc. Diagnostic principle and solving techniques. Emerging technologies and their impact.

Competencies – to achieve practical competence e.g. carry out the foundation tasks common to all procedures; removing and replacing bolts screws and clips, replacing seals and extracting damaged fasteners, cutting, drilling, filing, using fabrication skills etc.

Behaviours – develop and become competent with soft skills and behaviours.

Expected apprenticeship duration
3 years

Desired skills The potential to analyse, research and solve problems, is organised with good communication skills, both orally and in writing. Can work well in a team environment, has a positive can do attitude and can follow instruction to meet work task requirements.


Personal qualities To have a genuine interest in vehicles and how they operate. To be able to demonstrate general analytical and mechanical skills and reasoning. To care about delivering excellent customer service to both colleagues and customers.


Desired qualifications Motor Vehicle level 1 achieved desirable.

In addition, if not already achieved, candidates must be capable of achieving good standard of GCSE passes desirable 5 at grade C/4 or above including mathematics, English language and Science.
