Mechanical Engineer – Southampton

Looking to broaden your skill set? This role would suit someone who is looking for a role that is more hands on, give you plenty of autonomy and will use many of your mechanical engineering skills.

* Southampton, Permanent, small to medium business with worldwide client base

* Salary is £28000 to £38000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Role:

* You will be supporting the mechanical design, Leading or supporting the integration products
* Leading and delivering assigned system or sub-system level projects (sometime including detailed designs)
* Using and developing tools and analysis methods, including stress & thermal calculation (hand/spreadsheet or FEA), analysis components
* Using software to build and manipulate models, and produce drawings for manufacture
* Creating BOMs, drawings, and procedures
* “Hands on” activities for new builds like measurement, tests and troubleshooting, creating prototype.
* Redesign of existing products looking at cost and performance or adapting to ISO changes. Change process, in adherence to ISO 9001

We are after a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with a few years hands on experience. Their product base is related to energy efficiencies and are installed all over the world including Australia and South America.

Knowledge of energy conversion from fuel or fluids (such as IC engines, turbomachinery, generators) people with experience in industries related to energy, renewables, automotive, aerospace, industrial (process) etc would be considered.

A varied mechanical engineering knowledge would suit this role as you would get involved in a variety of aspects with your department, often managing projects from conception through to installation. Experience needs to be within complex engineering environments.
