Our client an award-winning design and software development tech company in Manchester that specialises in the gaming sector.

As the DevOps Engineer you will manage the development and production environments. You will be responsible for automating any and all possible tasks, documenting it and sharing the knowledge with the team.

You will sit within the development team reporting to the Enterprise Architect

DevOps Engineer - What we expect

Our clients solution is based around RabbitMQ, with .NET WCF and Web API’s with MySQL and RethinkDB databases, with a responsive and adaptive web frontend built on React hosted on Node.js and a CMS based on Ruby on Rails so we’re looking for someone with good experience using most of these technologies.

You will be keen on keeping up-to-date with new technologies, techniques and processes, and identify where these could lead to improvements for your role.

Your responsibilites

Development and test environments are hosted in AWS using Ansible to deploy and configure them. You will take ownership of these environments improving the monitoring, deployments and configuration management of the solution.

You will be responsible for the automating as much as possible in the virtualised production environment.

You will champion, maintain and uphold the CI/CD processes, driving improvements to working practices.

Who we're looking for...

Solid experience running highly available web applications and services on Linux servers
Experience with at least 2 of setting up different clusters for Nginx, IIS, RabbitMQ, RethinkDB
Any experience with AWS (EC2, ELB) is a bonus
Strong knowledge of Linux (we use CentOS)
Knowledge of Windows Server and hosting .NET WCF and WebAPI services
Configuration management systems and concepts (Ansible including custom playbooks)
Building and scaling monitoring solutions (Zabbix, Splunk, etc)
Continuous integration and source code management (Jenkins, Git)
Bash and scripting languages
Powershell is a nice to have
Any experience with security audits (internal and external) and maintaining a secure infrastructure is a significant advantage
Be an expert problem solver
An excellent communicator, both verbal and written
Someone who is adaptable and able to pick up new techniques
Enjoys keeping up to date with advances in technologies and how they can be applied to projects
Hardworking and willing to go above and beyond to learn new skills
Love working as part of a team and collaborating with others
