Trainee Technical Needs AssessorsAbout Contact AssociatesFrom our head office in Taunton, our specialist team administer Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) Needs Assessments for students entering Higher Education through a network of DSA-QAG accredited assessment centres across England and Northern Ireland.Through our Sound Support service, we also provide fully qualified study skills tutors, mentors and support workers to assist students throughout England.We also provide individual dyslexia tuition for post-18 year old students. The roleContact Associates has a new Permanent, full time job vacancy for someone who is looking to support people and use their education to further themselves and assist others to take the path towards greater self-reliance.By engaging in the Contact Associates’ training programme you will gain experience and specialist knowledge to enable you to undertake technical needs assessments for people with disabilities, mental health conditions and specific learning difficulties in accordance with regulations and the quality assurance frameworks you will then produce formal written reports.To clarify, as a needs assessor you will consider the barriers that the disabled person may encounter in further education as a result of their disability and recommend support to overcome these obstacles. This role will involve extensive travel between centres and locations so please only apply if you are happy to travel as part of your job..Key Duties & Responsibilities1) To successfully complete the Contact Associates’ training programme; this includes job shadowing, observations, training in assistive technology and software as well as written evidence of report writing development.2) To undertake technical needs assessments of people with the full range of disabilities as specified by the Equality Act (2007) in accordance with the Department for Education regulations, equality legislation, the requirements of student funding bodies and the appropriate Quality Assurance Framework.3) To work with higher education students to identify appropriate study and support strategies to enable the individual to participate in their study activities4) To produce formal written needs assessment reports in the format and timescale laid down by Contact Associates for relevant parties including disabled people, funding agencies, suppliers and institutions, making recommendations for study aids and study strategies.5) To demonstrate, evaluate the suitability of, and offer advice on appropriate hardware, software, assistive technology and other aids for each individual.6) To respond to post-assessment queries as appropriate in a timescale prescribed by Contact Associates. Further Duties 1) To liaise with internal and external agencies in order to complete reports and to ensure relevant support is recommended.2) To undertake continuous professional development in order to keep up to date with developments in disability support, equality legislation, enabling technology and strategies.3) To contribute to the development of policy and procedures and evaluation mechanisms to inform the further quality enhancement of service delivery.4) To contribute to the development of company policy and practice to ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and legislative requirements.
