Our client was established in 1975 in the historic heart of the leather industry and has Become the centre of excellence for automotive leather interior trim in the United Kingdom. Quality bespoke interior trim, developed for use within the automotive industry customer base, has been at the heart of the development and progress in the divisions, which now form part Automotive components are produced from the main facility, with a second automotive site , with Aerospace and Rail products being produced out of other facilities

Defined key purpose.(Note: In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required).

Development of all cutting strategies that will maximize material yields and cell efficiencies.
Working alongside Trim Development and production to optimize quality zoning on patterns improving material yields
Full analysis and KPI creation using data supplied from Lectra Reporting software, identifying key trends and areas of improvement.
Drives through a culture of continuous improvement and waste reduction.
Identifies and supports the implementation of VA/VE ideas to support requirements
Supports the Sales and/or Business Management team on the response to new business acquisition RFQ’s and programme related RFQ packages.
Design cell layouts to ensure manufacturing processes run in line with lean principles
Supports the NPI team through the programme introduction life-cycle as per Process.
Investigate techniques and technology available in the marketplace that will add value and reduce cost.

Principle Accountabilities:

Defines Who and what:

Is directly accountable to the plant manager for improving the manufacturing performance of the cutting and sewing cells within
Identifying and managing improvement projects
Ensuring all work instructions are up to date.
Material usage is at Its optimum
Value stream map for all process lines are in place and up to date
Design and implementation of manufacturing cells and techniques for new products

Preferred Education and Experiences

HNC/HND in manufacturing Engineering or appropriate experience
Should have 5 years’ experience in the interiors industry.
Good working knowledge / understanding of leather cutting and sewing equipment and processes (Lectra systems would be desirable but not essential)
Proven track record of implementing lean methodologies and techniques
Sufficient verbal and written language skills and the programme / operational locations.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the customer and within the company
Adaptability in the location of work including business travel
Flexibility to change priorities in response to changing programme demands
