Construction Director Urban energy - UK - Home Based

Description
Our client are recruiting for a Home Based Director to be based in the UK. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week (standard office 9am-5pm).

General Overview:
To lead the Construction team for all projects under the management of the Technical Director. This is envisaged to be mostly new connections onto the District Energy schemes within the UK. This role will also involve the closing out of existing construction works.

A significant part of the works includes civil and mechanical / electrical works in difficult areas such as near transport links and inner-city activity. The Construction Director should be fully conversant with the requirements of this type of work including permits, planning, and temporary works. A good understanding of District Heating pipework and HVAC equipment is also desirable.

Project Management including control of teams and financial, program & risk reporting to Exec level is a requirement.

The requirement will also be to manage and develop a multidisciplinary construction team that is spread over the UK.

The Role is to:
• Lead the development of the team and structure the team for todays and future requirements
• Ensure health and safety is forefront of the construction team behaviour including any subcontractors employed
• Ensure delivery of temporary works and main works are compliant and of good quality
• Ensure quality of delivery including all systems are built, commissioned and documented to best practice using guidelines and all quality checks completed
• Documentation system utilised and complied with to ensure documents are stored and recoverable and of good quality
• Continue to develop the current systems and procedures for project delivery to ensure they are fit for purpose and drive results
• Ensure finance, program and risk controls, are in place to both control, and report performance in line with construction process and best practice, utilising major project systems
• Support development functions in securing new installation projects (both paid for by the client, or as part of the investment) – and then subsequently delivering such installations on-time, on-budget and with controlled risk profiles
• Interact closely with the Business Development team, Engineering team and Design teams to help develop future business as well as delivering the current portfolio of project deliverables Input into the review of costings and program during the bidding process would be envisaged

Qualifications:
• Degree level / HND in a relevant technical subject (e.g. mechanical or electrical) or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of CHP, Boilers, Chillers, water treatment including ancillary equipment
• Significant experience of inner-city civil works
• Safety management/leadership
• Experience of HSE and EA legislation and Guidance Notes
• Experience of Project Management and senior level reporting
• Ability to build positive relationships at all levels
• Strong presentation, influencing and motivational skills
• Excellent attention to details and understanding of risk
• Collaborative and an effective team player
• Ability to use standard software packages e.g. MS Office, to an intermediate level
• Full Driving Licence essential
• Good commercial and financial acumen with experience of contract management
• Project Management on multi-site deliveries
• Experience of managing stakeholder relationships ensuring customer satisfaction within commercial / contract requirements
• Experience of contributing effectively as part of a broader senior leadership team
• Experience of developing and motivating a skilled remote team
