Finance Business Analyst – Sutton & London

We are recruiting for the position of Finance Business Analyst within RBI’s Finance team, to support the FlightGlobal business unit. FlightGlobal is a rapidly-growing global Aviation news, data and analytics business employing around 400 people, with global operational hubs in London, the US and Asia. The role will be based in the UK, and split between Sutton and central London (Holborn) locations (there may be an occasional requirement to travel to other offices including international locations).

Working with the Divisional Head of Finance, this is a highly commercial and operational finance role, working closely with business managers at a range of levels, including engagement with the FlightGlobal Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Sector Leadership Groups (SLG). You will provide strong decision support to the management team, ensuring decisions are taken with complete understanding of their financial impact. This will include in-depth analysis of revenue trends, provide increased cost visibility and ownership, with a focus on ensuring a robust control environment.

Ability to influence at all levels will be critical to success in the role, as well as detail focus and a solid grounding in accounting principles. The role acts as a key liaison between the business and RBI’s Reporting and Accounting teams.

The role will report directly to the Divisional Head of Finance for these two brands, who is also spends split time between Sutton & central London.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Produce, review and analyse reporting required for month end close, working closely with Accounting services support team to ensure accuracy and understanding of period results.

Support budget and forecasting processes with Divisional Head of Finance, ensuring a rigorous and accurate process with appropriate challenge, understanding and communication of risks, issues and opportunities

Engage with and provide support to the SLT with regards to managing and ownership of cost budgets, providing necessary challenge and identifying opportunities where appropriate to drive efficiency

Produce and interpret regular financial reports and ad-hoc analysis with focus on key performance metrics, helping to drive profitable revenue growth and ensure that decisions are made based on actionable insight

Work with UK Sector leadership teams within FlightGlobal to provide financial support when establishing priorities and roadmaps for investment and portfolio management decisions.

Ensure ongoing support and tracking of projects including providing effective challenge on deliverables & milestones.

Support integration of two recent FlightGlobal acquisitions where required

Partner closely with the wider Finance team, including FlightGlobal US Finance Manager, UK Finance Analyst and centralised teams; Accounting Services, Reporting & Analysis, and the Global Transaction teams to efficiently support the FlightGlobal business

Support an effective control environment and safeguard the company’s assets

Key skills required

A foundation of core accounting skills and technical knowledge is essential for success. At the same time, ability to communicate financial concepts to people outside Finance will be needed on a daily basis.

Highly organized with great attention to detail

Qualifications / Experience

Degree-level qualification (subject area is less important than level of rigour)
Accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 1-2+ years PQE
Experience in a large blue-chip organisation is preferred but not essential
Experience of working in a commercial finance / business partnering environment is also preferred

Previous experience will include:

Financial reporting and analysis of performance metrics, including variance analysis, providing commercial and insightful commentary and understanding

Working in a business partnering environment where you have contributed toward the success of the business, through building strong relationships and providing valuable support to business management teams

Working in/with accounting teams as part of the monthly close cycle, working and delivering to deadlines

Ownership of a budgeting and forecasting process. The size of budgets is less important than degree of ownership
