This is an excellent role in Leeds for a Head of Development with a strong .NET background to join a brilliant agency. In this role you will be managing a large development team of back-end web developers, front-end developers and testers working on projects for major organisations.

It's a heavyweight role suited to someone coming from a large agency environment - you will be working on £1-2m projects so you really need to know your stuff.

You will be responsible for managing the team on a daily basis, ensuring that a best practice approach is adopted at all times, and that projects are managed to clients' satisfaction.

The company has close relationships with technology vendors so you will work with them to develop technical strategies.

You must have the ability to solve complex technology problems and to communicate your vision to internal and external clients. You will be capable of acting as technical lead as and when the situation arises and you should be used to carrying out code reviews.

Your people management skills should be second to none and you should be capable of identifying training needs within the development team.

Technically, you should have very strong C# and SQL Server experience and solid skills in at least one of the major CMSs - Episerver, Umbraco and/or Sitecore. You will still be used to running code reviews with the team. You should have strong experience with scripting languages and should have a good understanding of and interest in the latest technologies, including cloud architectures.

You should have really strong solutions architecture and technical design experience and be capable of managing a project from initiation through to deployment.

It is thought that the ideal candidate will be someone with around 10 years experience although exceptions can be made for geniuses! You should have led a development team within an established agency or software house and you should have a strong background as a leader in software development: you must be capable of inspiring your team to do their best work.
