World leading global manufacturing organisation based in Barry are currently looking to recruit an Electrical and Instrument Engineer on a full time permanent basis.

The Barry site is one of the 5 large sites in Europe within the organisation, with 450 employees. It is the largest silicone manufacturing site in Europe and is amongst the most profitable product lines within the company. There are significant investment and growth projects planned for the coming years.

As Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer you will be responsible for providing specialist technical support to the site maintenance and operations functions and for ensuring the site complies with all regulatory requirements relating to the safe installation, operation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.

Key responsibilities include:

* Providing technical support and advice on equipment failures, root cause investigation, reliability improvements, facility and equipment strategies.
* Share knowledge internally/externally via technical resource network forums

* Provide E & I engineering support to projects including front end design inputs, reliability and operability advice, and commissioning support.
* Develop, maintain and apply standards and procedures for the design and maintenance of E & I systems.

* Maintain and update E & I documentation including datasheets, loopsheets and schematics
* Have working knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification, Electrostatics and the ATEX directives

The successful candidate should have excellent influencing and motivational skills and have a strong commitment to safety.

Candidates should also have demonstrated experience of:

* Troubleshooting and fault finding instrumentation and electrical systems
* Delivering technical presentations and training material
* Provide E&I expertise to PHR & PHA’s, alarm reviews and safety audits.
* Ensure instrumentation represented on PIDs is correct
* Carry out safety and reliability root cause investigations
* Supporting major maintenance activities e.g. plant shutdowns
* Understanding of relevant legislative requirements, (Electricity at Work Regulations, DSEAR, ATEX, BS7671 etc)


* Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Masters preferred, and working towards Chartered Status.
* Relevant electrical engineering experience in an operational environment, preferably at a COMAH facility in the chemical or petrochemical sector.

Successful applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, a medical and DBS (criminal record check) cost of this will be met by the employer.
