Test & Evaluation Engineer
Provide technical leadership and support on the strategy, design and execution of supply chain programme area and projects within it, across the UK. Work with stakeholders, to deliver activities and projects which help deliver change and make progress towards objectives and targets. Convey robust, compelling and credible information to stakeholders to make the case for action. Develop and maintain high-level relationships with relevant stakeholders in industry, professional institutes, trade associations and public bodies. Develop new methods of delivery towards objectives and targets. Build expertise and capabilities to broker change by helping others to develop skills. Share knowledge on relevant market and technology developments across department. Contribute to external and internally events as appropriate.
GUARDIAN is the project to replace the current in-service United Kingdom (UK) and Falkland Island (FI) Air Command and Control (C2) systems UCCS and FCCS which equip the UK and FI Control and Reporting Centres (CRCs) as well as the UK National Air Defence Operations Centre (NADOC). This role is specifically in support of GUARDIAN Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) Engineering activities. This role requires knowledge of Air Command and Control (C2) systems and Tactical Data Links - Technical Specialist - L3 (Professional 2) responsible for Test and Evaluation The Test and Evaluation Engineer will be participating in the following test activities : a. Test Plan and Strategy Review: • Review and comment on Prime Contractor Plan and Strategy b. Test Case and Script Reviews: • Review the Prime Contractor Test Cases and Test Scripts for relevance, accuracy, validity, realism c. VVRM (Validation and Verification Requirements Matrix) Development and Review: • Assist the Requirements Manager in working with the Prime Contractor to develop the VVRM • Review and Comment on the VVRM drafts • PDR • CDR d. Test Set-up Support: • Work with the Prime Contractor and GUARDIAN Implementation Team in organising the GFX provision for development and testing e. FAT Dry Run Support and Witnessing: • Support the GFX management for the testing • Observe the FAT Dry Runs and prepare back briefs and a final report for the GUARDIAN PM f. SAT Support and Witnessing: • Support the GFX management for the testing • Observe the SAT Dry Runs and prepare back briefs and a final report for the GUARDIAN PM g. Op Assess Support and Witnessing: • Work with the Prime Contractor and RAF Op Assess team to plan and Op Assess trials and resources required • Support GFX management for the Op Assess • Observe the Op Assess testing, prepare back briefs and a final report for the GUARDIAN PM h. Support the GUARDIAN PM in preparation for Test reporting element of the Handover documentation.
Role details: • Level 3 grade Engineering post reporting to the Chief Engineer • Function: Engineering: Level 3 Professional II • Engineering function with Command and Control Systems knowledge • Specialist Skills, Knowledge and Experience: • Engineering Technical Services, PDR and CDR activities • Experience in Air Defence Command and Control • ASACS experience with engineering or operator background • Test and trials planning, conducting and witnessing.
