Principal Planner - Buckinghamshire

The Reward

Based in Town Centre Offices with FREE parking40 miles north west of London with direct rail links in to Marylebone.My client is willing to pay up to £47,592 for motivated and qualified candidates.

Working within a multi-disciplinary development team you will act as a technical expert on statutory planning and development matters, providing an efficient high quality planning service.

The Role

·Assist the Development Team Leaders and other managers to understand the impacts of Government legislation in these areas and inform local decision making

·You will draw on your knowledge of Planning and the associated local and national legislation and planning policy.

·You will provide leadership and direction to our planning officers to ensure the delivery of the objectives including the planning growth proposed in our emerging local plan.

·Contribute to the review, development and implementation of strategy and policy and the delivery of the statutory duties with regard to planning and development

·Be responsible for the oversight of complex delegated planning decisions

·Implement overall performance standards for these service areas and provide proper monitoring of objectives and standards using benchmarks as necessary to improve service delivery

·Assist with identifying training needs for staff delivering these services, and will ensure that staff are sufficiently trained and competent to deliver effective and dependable investigations and outcomes

·Provide expert advice, guidance and information to internal and external stakeholders on planning schemes and proposals and research, evaluate and prepare delegated and committee reports as well as attending complex appeals, inquiries and hearings

·Support officers in the development team with more complex decision making and the development of skills associated with their role

The Candidate

To be considered for the role you will have

·Hold a level 6 qualification in Town Planning

·Eligibility for corporate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute

·A broad experience of delivering and managing a range of application and projects.

·Experience of handling complex planning applications, public inquiries, appeals and enforcement matters

·A high standard of written and verbal communication to a range of stakeholders is required

·Ability to understand legislation and good practice guidance and to translate this to working practices

·Able to demonstrate skills in research, analysis, problem solving and negotiation
