We are seeking a Design/Project Engineer for an established design & manufacturing business in Brecon, Mid Wales

This role will report to the Head of the Projects Department.

Salary- £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (Negotiable) with additional benefits in line with the position.

My client has accumulated over forty years of experience and know-how in the materials handling business, providing innovative solution to companies in the UK and Internationally, making them one of the world's most respected and knowledgeable materials handling consultants, undertaking projects for major blue-chip companies.

Their ability to solve handling problems is based firmly on their in-house design engineering skills - and of course the knowledge and experience gained from designing and manufacturing automated materials handling systems which would include vertical and horizontal conveying equipment.

Due to the continuous success of the business a position has arisen for a Design/Project engineer to complement the existing members of the project/design team to assist with the business strategy of increasing turnover, profitability and growth.
The ideal candidate would have; -
*A minimum of 5 years' experience in the materials handling industry
*Project management experience
*Design capabilities (2D & 3D) on AutoCAD and Inventor design software
*Commercial acumen/awareness
*The ability to work to tight timescales
*Excellent teamworking skills who actively contributes with internal and external customers.
*Highly experienced in dealing with customers, on a written, verbal and face to face basis
*Site attendance experience
*Is highly motivated with an excellent quality of workmanship
*Self-disciplined with excellent time management skills.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of Client project management with a demonstrable experience in the facilitation and production of work scopes and programs.
While training will be given to the preferred candidate it is important they are self-disciplined and have the ability to proactively think things through.

Main objectives;
* Generate Engineering Design packages in accordance with customer and business procedural requirements.
* Ensure on time delivery, on budget of multiple engineering projects.
* Support Continuous Improvement projects and provide technical support to other internal and external functions.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
* Design and validate products to customer requirements, relevant design standards / codes and procedures from initial inquiry to contract completion.
* Produce design packages including engineering and manufacturing drawings, calculations, BOM's, Operation & Maintenance Manuals
* Provide technical support for other internal and external functions (Manufacturing, Service, Sales and Customers).
* Implement and support continuous improvement actions/projects and best practice replication throughout the company.
* Project Manage contract work from inquiry through to completion and communicate with customer to manage submissions, design reviews etc.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Monitor and report on deviations from customer and contract requirements.
* Source & Purchase project specific components
* Design, draw and engineer effective, efficient and reliable materials handling solutions.
* Participate in value engineering to create cost effective product design
* Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and within deadlines
* Undertake site visits
* Any other reasonable task/activity as directed by the senior management team

Skills and attributes:
* Knowledge of material handling solutions (Desirable)
* CAD/CAE: Advanced User of Inventor (3D / 2D) and AutoCAD (2D) or similar software package.
* Competent User of Windows and MS Office products
* Self-starting individual able to manage and deliver targets for multiple projects
* Good Verbal and Written Communication skills
* High level of attention to detail
* Methodical and thorough
* Willingness to research and make engineering decisions
* Hold full clean UK driving licence
* Willing to work occasional unsociable hours or overtime to meet business needs
* Willing to travel abroad occasionally to meet business needs

Desirable experience:
* Project engineering experience
* Design engineering experience
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (desirable: Mechanical or Electrical)
* Relevant Professional Qualification (Desirable)
* Materials handling industry exposure (Desirable)
* Design of solutions
* Creation of engineering and manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials, quality plans,
* Creation of Technical construction files
* ISO, BS, EN Standards
* Project Management incl. liaison with Suppliers, Customers and Sub-Contractors
